The ISM is open to visits organized by religious groups, school and other interested groups. All tours and visits must be prearranged with the respective ISM location. Visits to the ISM can usually be accommodated on most days of the week except Fridays. Friday afternoon visits are extremely difficult to accommodate due to conflicts with our main congregational prayers services. But if you would like to see a Friday sermon and congregational prayer, contact ISM Brookfield.
If you would like to request a visit to an Islamic Center, please use the Contact page to contact us.
Doors Open Milwaukee is Historic Milwaukee’s most ambitious project. As a nonprofit organization, Historic Milwaukee, Inc. has been dedicated to increasing awareness of and commitment to Milwaukee’s history, architecture, and the preservation of our built environment through education and advocacy since 1974.
ISM has participated in Doors Open Milwaukee since 2013, and has every intention to do so every year henceforth.
I was impressed by how welcoming the people I interacted with were. I think the ISM is a great contribution to the greater Milwaukee community.
Very open and upfront. I always wanted to see what it was like and now I do understand about a few things. It was great. Thank you and the food was wonderful.
Thank you so much for being a part of this. Everyone was so kind. Welcoming and clearly willing to tackle touch questions with honesty.
Had some misconceptions cleared up. Great hospitality. Thank you!
During a tour of an Islamic Center, you will have the opportunity to visit the prayer hall. The Muslim prayer hall is a large carpeted area that has no pews. Muslim prayers are performed directly on the carpeted floor, and the prayer includes prostrations on the floor. Because of this fact, the carpet must always remain clean. Prior to entering the carpeted area, all shoes need to be removed and placed on shoe racks outside of the prayer hall. For those who may have difficulty removing their shoes, please let us know in advance so that we can provide you with shoe covers.
All guests are requested to dress modestly, in attire appropriate for a house of worship. We kindly request no shorts, sleeveless shirts, above the knee skirts, revealing blouses, t-shirts with inappropriate messages, etc. Women who are visiting are not required to cover their hair, although they may choose to do so.
